If you live in Hawke’s Bay, you may be eligible for free driving lessons, learner licence workshops, and related cost support. 

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a New Zealand citizen

  • Be at least 16 years old

  • Be facing significant barriers to obtaining a Class One driver's licence

  • If applying for Class 1 Restricted licence support, must have a minimum of 20 hours of driving time.

Individuals will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Those applying for Class 1 Restricted and Full licence support will need to undergo an in-car assessment.
